An anon analyzes the benefits and reasons for ancient cavemen to invent the institution of Marriage, and how these reasons, or lack thereof, still influences modern day society:
Have you ever heard of a civilization where the concept of marriage didn’t exist? No, of course not. Marriage is necessarily at the very root of civilization. “Civilization,” a word derived from the Latin “civitas,” meaning “city,” denotes a high stage of development and organization. The relationship between civitas and civilization is not accidental. Advanced organization was only possible due to the construction of the first cities. Before the agricultural revolution circa 10,000 B.C., humans were hardly distinguishable from animals. We were living in herds, in a state of nature, guided solely by our animalistic instincts.
There was no institution of marriage in those hunter-gatherer societies because there was no need for such an institution. Marriage is a reproductive technology that was introduced to bring reproductive discipline to a harsh Malthusian reality: that the growth of population confined to a restricted area should be kept in check. Before marriage, the cost of rearing a child was effectively socialized: the fathers of the children were not explicitly determined, and the entire tribe was responsible for taking care of the women and children.
After building the first cities and the invention of marriage, the cost of child rearing was privatized. This meant that if a married couple did not have the means to take care of their offspring, they were not going to reproduce like rats. This also meant that if a man wanted to leave a genetic legacy after him, he had to channel his energies towards production, thus working towards a greater good and benefiting the entire society.
That is because patriarchy, and therefore marriage, are ways of channeling man’s lust into a productive endeavor. It promises a man guaranteed sex and therefore evolutionary success in exchange for his labor, which benefits the entire society. It harnesses beta males’ production by integrating them into the sexual market. When you think about it, like really step back and think about it for a minute, the fact that the majority of our men are able to marry is very unnatural.
An example of a sexually dimorphic animal species.
In a sexually dimorphic species such as Man, usually only the alpha males get to have sex. But not under patriarchy. Under patriarchy, even the beta males, even the omega males, get to have sex. They get to marry. So, instead of idling, jerking off, and playing video games, they channel their productive energies into the accumulation of capital. This is, cut and dry, simply what civilization is.
Now, note that chastity, sanctity of marital vows and so on are simply natural implications of the marriage technology. They ensure that the male has guarantees over his genetic reproductive success in return for his labor. That is how you harness a male’s labor. Without those guarantees, he won’t commit, he won’t give up his labor so easily. Thus when you introduce degeneracy, such as hedonism, such as premarital sex, into society, males simply start opting out. That’s what we see today as neets, MGTOWs, and vegans. We’re at a quite advanced stage of civilizational decay. The collapse is very near.
Anyway, the degeneracy = societal collapse thing that is repeated in just about every religion, Christianity included, is there for a reason.
So yeah, sexual liberation of women, and people in general, really is that bad.
A very thought provoking analysis. Rather than commenting directly on it, it’s more fitting to introduce a different anon’s take on civilization and marriage – rather than looking at the issue through a scholarly lens at the entirety of society, this is simply how one person sees how the institution of marriage and society relates to himself:
The thing about the girls and alphas is, they don’t care. A man planting his seed in a new ripe field everyday doesn’t care about whether or not he’s comfortable. Women in love with alphas don’t care about anything else at all in life and record their own satisfaction moment to moment by how their alphas make them feel in that moment.
Civilization is a gift, from betas to betas. It’s an agreement made between betas. We won’t go bandit. We won’t go pirate. We won’t rape every woman not being guarded. We won’t kill every man that looks us wrong. We will instead, look out for each other, including leaving each other’s chosen woman alone.
Women hate that. They don’t want to be paired off with a beta, even if he is the smartest or the richest or the handsomest. All they want is an alpha that stirs them up inside.
Women hate betas. Ninety percent of men could die, and if they were the betas (and lower), women not only wouldn’t care, they wouldn’t notice.
If we want to maintain this beautiful gift to the world known as civilization, we need to acknowledge who it’s for. It’s for us. If you treat women as your equal, you will give the gift of equality to someone who literally and without exaggeration doesn’t care whether you live of die, so long as she can still get some alpha up there. You can either acknowledge that, or you watch our beautiful creation whither and die.
