Apparently, the thief in question belongs to a regular customer of the store, and has indeed attempted to steal the merchandise from the beef jerky aisle without paying. The owner of the thief and the storekeepers have bonded over the incident and are now friends, but nonetheless the thief remains on the wall of shame.
