Christian Heiens, a political commentator of some fame, mused about women’s role in politics in light of the recent Lindsay Clancy trial, where the jury trial of a woman who killed her three children ended in a mistrial:
We have spent the last century trying to treat men and women as interchangeable equals in virtually every way imaginable.
Men gave women universal suffrage in the name of equality, and with that incredible responsibility, they decided that they wanted to kill their babies, mass import millions of third worlders, and acquit other women who commit cold blooded murder.
The experiment has been run, and the results have been a catastrophe. The sensible and prudent thing is to admit that our 20th century ancestors were wrong, and our ancestors over the preceding 5,000 years were right all along.
The sentiment is grim. Historically, women’s freedom in their society tend to be correlated with the economy. With the potentially disruptive economic changes from AI and other factors coming up, things may yet change. Similar to how Japan and China tolerates less silliness from their women after their respective economic down turns, the same thing might happen in the west.
