During the 2024 Olympics in France, the the CGT (General Confederation of Labour, aka Confédération Générale du Travail in French) performed a strike. They were asked a question by a reporter – “Don’t you think this would cause trouble for other people?”.
To which the union representative responded, “Nothing would change if we don’t cause people trouble.”
A Japanese person, who came from a culture that emphasizes on not causing other people trouble, thought this response was “Powerful! I want to engrave it in my soul!”.
Though brief, this was an interesting example of how people from two different cultures think and approach their problems.
