A liquor store in Virginia, USA, was broken into, with bottles smashed and ceiling tiles collapsed. The culprit behind all this commotion was a raccoon, which was found dead drunk and sprawled out in the bathroom. This escapade, resembling a drunken adventure, not only went viral locally but also became an international curiosity.
The incident occurred on November 29. The store was not yet open for business, but staff arriving for work in the morning found the floor covered in broken glass and spilled whiskey, along with a section of collapsed ceiling—clear signs of a break-in!
Following the trail, employees made their way to the bathroom, where they discovered a raccoon lying spread-eagled beside the toilet, clearly “passed out drunk.”
The local animal rescue service, the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter, were called to the scene. Even they were amazed by the sight. Animal control officer Samantha Martin speculated with a wry smile that the raccoon likely fell through the ceiling and then “went on a rampage,” knocking over bottles along the way and embarking on a drinking spree.
Martin took the intoxicated raccoon back to the animal shelter for care, occasionally chuckling at the mischievous “drunkard” during the process. She quipped, “Another day in the life of an animal control officer, I guess.”
