Iguana Egg Feast

A Japanese man’s pet iguana laid a large amount of eggs recently:

Not knowing how to dispose of them, the pet owner decided to try eating them:

After being boiled, the eggs were peeled and served with black pepper, mayonnaise and olive oil for dipping on the side:

The eggs were described as a “less flavorful chicken egg”, with a rubbery texture and a tendency to completely break apart after a couple of bites. All of this sounds like a culinary experience that’s incomprehensible to the rest of us mortals who’s never had the chance to eat iguana eggs. The pet iguana apparently produced enough eggs for the owner to try to experiment with different ways of cooking them.

Female iguanas will lay eggs regardless of whether they mated with a male, so the eggs were unfertilized and had no risk of containing an iguana embryo.
